Website audit and rebuild

This website, assessed against Apple HIG and WCAG with measured findings, then rebuilt from a personal blog into a services site.

HIG and WCAG 2.2
Measured findings

A UX audit is only useful if every finding points at a real element and a concrete fix. This page is the audit of this website, run with the same method offered in the UX audit service.

Method

  • Rules: 84 rules taken from Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, each with Apple’s own threshold (for example a 44x44 pt hit target and a 4.5:1 text contrast), a web translation and a way to check it
  • Facts first: axe-core, Lighthouse, a keyboard walk and a style scan are measured by code; a reviewer model only judges what the tools cannot measure, and must quote the element
  • Independent scoring: the score is computed by code from the reviewer’s output, not written by the person who built the page

Before the rebuild (28 September 2026)

MeasureResult
Overall score81 / 100
Accessibility (measured)9 / 10
Blocking issues (P0)0
Serious issues (P1)2: emoji used as interface icons; slow largest paint in the lab test
Minor issues (P2)4: three display typefaces, chat launcher outside page landmarks, internal status labels on project cards, contact text promising links that were not there

After the rebuild (29 September 2026, production build)

MeasureBeforeAfter
Overall score81 / 10088.8 / 100
Accessibility (measured)9 / 109 / 10
Feedback and performance (measured)7 / 1010 / 10
Consistency7 / 109 / 10
Aesthetic integrity6 / 108 / 10

What changed

  • Emoji icons replaced by one consistent stroke icon set
  • Three typefaces reduced to two plus a monospace
  • Every custom button given pressed, hover and keyboard-focus states
  • Internal status labels removed from public project cards
  • Contact section rewritten around what actually exists: an email address and a form
